Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Students,

We are in the middle of the Term 3 and we would like to focus your attention on a very eventful, and very significant, Term 4. I would like to remind our parents and students about the importance of attendance. Statistics show that each day missed is heavily associated with increasingly lower academic achievement in numeracy, writing and reading. Absence can also have a big impact on the students socially, leading to social isolation. If your child misses school for any reason, it is best that you ensure to contact their teachers and find out what content or assessment they have missed out. I understand that some families are organising carers to pick up and drop off their children. Sometimes they can be late due to multiple drop offs. It is still parents’ responsibilities to bring their children to school on time. Please consider how much time they are missing from their education. Finally, as we are coming into spring, blazers are not compulsory in Term 4 unless students are going on an excursion.

The Robotics elective students participated in the Melbourne Rescue Regional RoboCup Junior. Congratulation to our Robotics team and students Sadia Sattar, Semiha Ulubasoglu and Aleena Ejaz. I hope my students enjoyed this day of learning, development and sharing of ideas. Good luck with the state competition.

I would like to thank everyone who attended Year 12’s Gala Night on Friday for Well project! With all of the amazing support, the event became a huge success! Their goal of $10,500 was well and truly met. They have raised approximately $17,000. All of the proceeds go straight to their campaign of building wells in Cambodia and Tanzania. Thank you, Ms Umran Topcu. Good on you girls; we are proud of you.

I celebrate your Feast of Sacrifice from now. We are collecting Qurban donations for people in need around the world. We are expecting your generous donations. Please contact our Pastoral Care teachers for your donations.

During the Term 3 holidays we will not be offering extra classes for Year 12 students. Instead, there will be a study camp in the first week of Term 4. I highly recommend this camp for students to come together, share knowledge and resources in a nurturing environment. I guarantee that your child will return with full motivation. Please contact VCE Year Level coordinator Ms Inass Fayad for more information.

I wish my students a restful break before the commencement of Term 4.

Mr. Mehmet Cicek
